Greg Goodman is based out of Brattleboro, VT. Greg uses line in his furniture to emphasize the beauty of a material that offers people a unique relationship with the natural world. George Nakashima and James Krenov are influences and inspirational for Goodman, because of their use of natural forms and features of wood to create approachable, functional, and elegant designs. Goodman utilizes modern, engineered materials only when they lend to the creation of such designs. In comparison to other modern studio furniture makers that build ornamentation, color and textural elements into their designs, Goodman focuses on the implementation of a simplified composition to balance form and function. He believes that “every line should contribute directly to the internal, functional logic of a piece of furniture.”
